A wealth of information disguised as a charming tale about loving what you do for a living.
I bought this book on the recommendation of a well respected Voice Actor, Robert Paulsen, who incidentally wrote the Foreword for this edition. I was asking him about resources for people looking to "break into the Biz"as it were. I myself do not aspire to produce voice over work, but I wanted to learn as much as I could to help my teenage son, who is autistic, have the opportunity to do so if he chooses that path. He has an innate aptitude for mimicry, and will practice independently to perfect his latest impression. To be honest, this book has been everything I could have hoped for as far as relaying the necessary information, and I was delighted to find how much of themselves that Tara and Yuri have breathed into the pages. As a self proclaimed autodidact, I always enjoy when the author/s teach while also speaking in their own unique voice, or in this case, voices. Thank you, Platt-Lowenthals, for this amazing labor of love. I look forward to referring back to it many times in the future.

The original edition was the first voice over book I ever bought. I used it as a VO Bible. Read it every couple of months and picked up something new EACH and every time! Without a doubt It helped me become a successful voice actor. As proof, I was asked to write a passage in this Extended Edition. Yuri and Tara have done it again. Updating it perfectly! Ther's lot of different information but nothing particular
The book is quite interesting and there's a lot of different information but nothing particular. If you need a book on how to improve your voice, especially if you have some problems with it then this book is not gonna help you. Also if you need real advice on how to work with scripts and how to make your voice sound natural then again this book is not for you. The authors emphasize that first you have to be an actor and you need practice, practice and more practice. But anyway, if you want to know more about voice over industry in general and how everything works then it's pretty good book.
A handbook that cannot be missed
This second edition is an even more in-depth and helpful guide to the world of voice over and motIon-capture. Tara and Yuri break down everything into easily digestible segments that is fun to read and even more fun to implement. It is an essential handbook for any actor beginning their forwray into voice over, and a welcome and helpful reminder for those who would like a refresher course featuring smart and safe practices. I also cannot stress enough how important this book is for helping actors with auditioning and working professionally in the voice-over world.

Love this book , reading it slowly so that I absorb all the informative information . Shares a lot of knowledge of Tara & Yuri . Also other experiences of other voice actors . It’s also funny in the way the speak about experiences . The book is very enjoyable and is a excellent read !!!
Very Informative and Awesome Book
This is a very detailed and very informative book that covers just about every aspect of voice over/acting. Everything is very well written and explained in a casual way which makes it fun to read and easier to understand. A lot of information is packed into this book and none of it is useless. I love it and it will aid many aspiring voice actors.

I am taking the dive into voiceover / voice acting and this book is a great resource from two pros in the biz! They bring practical advise with their years of being in the trenches (as well as the booth) and what they have experienced as well as the ebbs and flow of the business. It covers every aspect that a newbie needs to have a great foundation to step forth in this strange new world of VO/VA. Highly recommended !

This book is full of great information not just from the authors but other iconic voice actors that I have grown up listening to. I am finding it full of information I am not just taking notes on but putting into exercises and restructuring the way I am going about getting into this field.

This book is extremely informative, and practical. The authors are experienced in the field, and take you through every aspect of the adventure - from learning about opportunities that are available, to recording your own sample performances for auditions. Easy to read and understand. Good job!
