Singapore called for citizens to leave Myanmar

 

Singapore called for citizens in Myanmar to consider leaving this country as soon as possible due to violence escalating after the military coup.

"Facing the rapidly climbing conflict situation between protesters and Myanmar security forces, as well as the increasing number of casual civilians in Myanmar, Singaporeans are recommended to postpone all travels to Myanmar

"Singaporeans in Myanmar should also consider leaving as soon as possible by commercial vehicles when still", the Ministry added.

Singapore is the largest foreign investor in Myanmar in recent years.

Singaporists who choose to stay in Myanmar are recommended to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, especially not to the rally areas.

The statement given in the context of becoming increasingly violent violence after the coup in Myanmar.

The wave of protest in Myanmar on March 3 experienced the most "bloody day" when 38 people were killed by security forces.

The United Nations Security Council will meet close to discuss the situation of Myanmar on March 5.
